Surfing Fun at Cocoa Beach, Florida
Many people decide they want a beach vacation so they can surf. Whether they love surfing already or it's something they've been willing to try for a while, it seems that beach vacations often lead to surfing. So if you're looking for a beach vacation in Florida that will give you the opportunity to get out on the waves, famous Cocoa Beach should be your destination.
Cocoa Beach, Florida is located on the eastern coast of central Florida. Since it's a popular spot for surfers, the beaches are well maintained, and the lifeguards are vigilant, making it a beautiful and safe place to surf. One of the city's claims to fame is that it's so close to Cape Canaveral, home to Kennedy Space Center and launch site of many of NASA's shuttles. Another is that it was the setting for the classic television show "I Dream of Jeannie."
Despite being such a tourist attraction, Cocoa Beach has a population less than thirteen thousand, making it a great alternative for people who want to avoid the crowded beaches of cities such as Daytona Beach and Miami. This means more space on the sand, and more space in the waves. This can be particularly helpful if you're just learning to surf and want a little extra space as you're building confidence.
If you're visiting Cocoa Beach to surf, you have to visit Ron Jon's Surf Shop. Ron Jon's was founded in 1959 in New Jersey, but the Cocoa Beach location is currently the biggest surf shop in the world. Anything you could possibly need to surf in Cocoa Beach can be found at Ron Jon's, as well as a great variety of souvenirs to take home to family and friends.
Thanks to the draw of surfers that's grown because of Ron Jon's Surf Shop, Cocoa Beach is a great place to learn to surf, as well. Lots of companies, big and small, offer surfing lessons for adults and kids, making a surf vacation to Cocoa Beach a great family vacation option!
Of course, surfing isn't all Cocoa Beach has to offer. When you're ready to take a break from the water, you can visit Cocoa Beach Pier for shopping and restaurants, and peruse activity options for your next adventure, whether it be parasailing, banana boating, or jet skiing. Brevard Zoo is also nearby for another fun outdoor activity that's fun for the whole family.
Cocoa Beach is a great vacation destination for anyone, but if you imagine yourself riding the waves during your time away from work, Cocoa Beach is definitely the place for you! All you need is your board, some sunscreen, and a spirit of adventure!

Florida is a great destination for vacations. The state has lots of great attractions, miles and miles of beaches, and it's called "the Sunshine State" for a reason! And one great place to visit (though often neglected) when you're on vacation is Tampa.
Tampa and its surrounding communities are growing quickly, offering lots of great opportunities for residents. However, it offers lots of opportunities for tourists, as well. In addition to the beautiful beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, Tampa is known for its numerous, gorgeous golf courses, and salt water fishing.
All along the Tampa area beaches you can find businesses who will take you into the Gulf for fishing, and the perfectly landscaped golf courses of the areas can be found nearby no matter where your hotel is located. And because of the great fishing and golfing that exists, Tampa hosts many great events that appeal to golfers and fishers (both professional and amateur).
Since many of the surrounding communities are appealing to residents, vacationing families don't have far to look for upscale shopping and fine dining opportunities. This offers something different from the traditional beach burgers and souvenir shops, giving you a different experience on your vacation. Sure, you can buy tee shirts and have cheap tacos, but you can also buy fine jewelry and eat at a gourmet restaurant, all in the same city!
Throughout the year, Tampa is host to many events. One of the most popular is Gasparilla, an annual pirate festival held in Tampa. There are parades, concerts, food, and rides, and even a pirate "invasion." Gasparilla is held in January every year, so those looking to get away from the snow and cold have the perfect excuse!
One of the advantages to vacationing in Tampa is that it's not the number one vacation destination in Florida. This may make it a better choice for people who want to get away from crowded chaos and have a relaxing time. But if you want a taste of something a little more "tourist" in nature, keep in mind that Tampa is only an hour and a half from Walt Disney World.
If you do a search for "top Florida vacations," Tampa may not rank high on the list, but don't discount it! The beautiful city has lots of beaches, great activities and events year round, and everything you could need to make your next vacation the vacation of your dreams!

No commentsQuick Packing Tips: Florida Vacation Must Haves
Whether you are heading to Florida for business or pleasure, you'll find that you are going to need to pack! Some people find that when they are headed to Florida on short notice that they are at a loss as to what should go into their suitcase. What clothes should you bring and what kind of supplies are you going to need to bring? The truth of the matter is that packing for Florida is a breeze as long as you remember a few key things.
The first thing that you are going to need to bring is a pair comfortable walking shoes or sandals. If you are planning on doing some hiking, of course you are going to want something to protect your feet, but when you are looking at just hanging on the beach look for good sandals that will keep you comfortable whether you are walking in sand or on the pavement. Make sure that your footwear has a good fit and that you feel good when you wear them.
Of course you are going to be bringing your swimsuits along if you are planning on hitting the beach at all, but remember that the weather in Florida is unpredictable. The summers can have extremely high humid temperature and the winter can bring in cold fronts at any time. Always check the weather report the day before you go and pack coats if you are uncertain. Take some time and really consider what you can do to make sure that you don't need to make a sudden and expensive clothes shopping trip for the whole family!
Remember that if you have fun in the sun, you are also going to need to worry about sunburn. Remember that a good sun-block is important for the whole family. If you want to make sure that you can enjoy the beach as much as you want, considering bringing along an extra swimsuit. This way, you can still enjoy yourself in the water when one is drying out. If you are looking to lounge on the beach, consider bringing along a loose cover up that will help you hide from the sun.
Also don't forget to bring a towel. While the hotel will have towels for the shower, why not bring along a couple of large beach towels that will let you enjoy the beach without sitting on the hot sand? Having a large towel along can make beach sitting a lot more bearable.
After that, all you need to worry about are the regular travel items. If you are flying in, check for the list of prohibited items before you go and the night before, do a quick check to look into what you might have left behind. After that, though, all you have to worry about is enjoying yourself!

No commentsFlorida’s Most Exotic Cuisines and Vacation Destinations
When you're in the snow and ice thinking about your next vacation, most likely you're thinking about somewhere tropical, sunny, and warm! There's nothing that says vacation more than sitting on the beach, listening to the waves, sipping a colorful, fruity-tasting drink (umbrella included, of course). That's why Florida is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the United States.
If you're looking for a beach vacation, you can't go wrong with Florida. Even Orlando, located in central Florida, is only a couple of hours from the beach, so no matter where you go, you'll be able to get some sand and surf. However, for Florida beach vacations, there are cities that focus on beach bound tourists.
Daytona Beach, for example, is one of the most popular beach destinations in the entire nation. Thanks to the media coverage of college age vacationers during Spring Break, Daytona Beach blossomed from a small beach town to a hot vacation destination! It's not just beaches, though. Daytona Beach offers great shopping and night life, as well as golfing and fishing, the Daytona Raceway, and it's just about two hours from Disney World, SeaWorld, and Universal Studios!
If you're looking for a Bahamas-esque vacation without having to leave the United States, the Florida Keys may just be where you want to be. The Keys are as far south as you can get in Florida, and because they're little islands, they have a different feel than the rest of the state. You can feel isolated from the "mainland" in the Keys, and have a romantic getaway.
Of course, when many people think of Florida, the first thing that comes to mind is Orlando, and visiting Mickey Mouse. Orlando is located in central Florida, and in addition to Walt Disney World, tourists can visit SeaWorld, Universal Studios, and all the great water parks and other attractions the city has to offer.
Of course, one of the other important parts of vacation is where you're going to eat! And Florida offers great cuisine in addition to great beaches and shopping! Since Florida is geographically close to both Latin America and the Caribbean, the state offers a great variety in cuisine. From traditional Latin American food to seafood to Key Lime pie, you'll have lots of different things to sample and taste while you're escaping from your daily life, and it'll all make it even harder to want to go home and back to "reality!"
